Portrait and Fine Art Photographer O’Doule ( Leo Doyle A.S.W.P.P.) feels privileged to have been born and raised among some of the most spectacular landscapes in the world, in Co. Wicklow – Ireland.
After college ODoule moved to London to begin his career as a photo-journalist with a north London newspaper. During those early years in London, he took numerous Photography and visual art courses, finally joining Kodak Ltd. at their Harrow headquarters. For the next 8 years Leo Doyle was exposed to and schooled in, the many aspects of photography at the highest level, winning numerous International Awards and exhibition hangings around the world.
In the early eighties, he returned to Ireland and opened Leo Doyle Studios and Gallery of Photography at Church Street in Wicklow, after winning the coveted International Salon Silver Medal, the only silver medal ever awarded to an Irish Photographer. O’Doule went on to become the first recipient of the Associateship Award in Portraiture, of the Irish Professional Photographers Association, and consequently lectured frequently to Irish Photographers, on the art of portrait photography. A founding member of the Irish Portrait Group, he photographed many famous people, including Pope Paul 2nd. And the late Dr. Peter Kavanagh, (Poet Patrick Kavanagh’s Brother).
After assignments in the USA, he moved to New York in the mid 90s, where he continued to expand his portrait and fine art styles. He received much acclaim for his published Photo Essays of Native American and Old Order Amish Peoples. The Portrait and Photo-Art work of O’Doule , is receiving increasing International recognition however, and continues with his return to Ireland from NYC . From his base in Gorey, Co. Wexford in Ireland – O’Doule continues to photograph Portraits, alongside developing and expanding the artistic boundaries of Landscape, Still Life and Fine Art Photography.
